Academic advising

What your advisor does, and does not do

An advisor is on your side. An advisor is also outside every grading decision, so that your grades mean what they say.

Your advisor will

  • Explain your study plan and the order of your courses
  • Help you plan your pace around your work
  • Notice when you fall behind and write to you
  • Arrange an adjustment you are entitled to
  • Tell you who decides a matter and how to reach them

Your advisor will not

  • Change a grade or a test result
  • See test questions before you sit a test
  • Take part in marking your work
  • Promise how an employer or an authority will treat your degree

  • You are told before you pay

Your offer, your study plan, your fees and our accreditation statement reach you before any payment.

  • A person answers

Automated tools help us work quickly. Decisions about your case, and every appeal, are made by a person.

  • Asking never counts against you

A question, an appeal or a complaint never affects your standing or your grades.
