What stands behind it
Berkshire is a university for working adults. Part of a degree may be earned by showing what the student already knows, and the rest is studied online.
- Course by courseExperience is never credited as a whole career. Each course is tested on its own, after an identity check, and the test result is the grade.
- A limit on assessmentIn a bachelor's degree at most 28 of the 40 courses can be met through assessment. Every graduate has studied at least 12 courses with the University.
- A graduation projectEvery graduate completes a project with the University. It cannot be replaced by experience.
- Credit hoursA course carries 3 credit hours, about 135 hours of learning. A bachelor's degree is 120 credit hours.
- Earned grades onlyOnly grades that were earned through an assessment appear on a transcript. The University keeps the record of how each grade was earned.
How to read it
| Grade | Score | Grade points |
|---|---|---|
| A | 90 to 100 | 4.0 |
| B | 80 to 89 | 3.0 |
| C | 70 to 79 | 2.0 |
| D | 60 to 69 | 1.0 |
The transcript lists every course with its code, its credit hours and its grade, and gives the cumulative grade point average. Graduation requires an average of at least 2.0.
Three things we tell every applicant
Accreditation
Our quality and accreditation statement says exactly where the University stands. Whether to accept a degree is decided by each employer and authority. Read the statement.
Licensed professions
Degrees in law, nursing, psychology and engineering are academic degrees. A licence to practise is granted by the professional authority in each country.
Documents for use abroad
Notarization and apostille confirm the signature and seal on a document. They do not change what the document says.
